Ship To Ship Transfer Operations

SEAGATE is supporting STS operations involving the transfer of cargo between two ships while at sea or at anchor. This procedure is commonly used for the transfer of crude oil, petroleum products, liquefied natural gas (LNG), bulk cargoes, and occasionally even for solid bulk materials. The operation is complex and requires careful planning, coordination, and execution to ensure safety and efficiency by supporting:

  • Planning and Preparation
  • Risk Assessment
  • Regulatory Compliance (such as MARPOL and SOLAS)
  • Mooring Operations
  • Fender Deployment
  • Mooring Lines
  • Cargo Transfer Hoses
  • Safety Precautions (Firefighting equipment, oil spill response gear, drills and table top exercises)
  • Environmental Considerations: Measures are taken to prevent spills and minimize environmental impact. This includes having oil spill response teams ready and using oil booms if necessary.
